Escalator

For about ten years, I haven't been to Tokyo, but now I go to Tokyo to buy clothes for my shop. I was surprised to see you get on an escalator in Tokyo. It has changed since ten years ago. On the escalator people stand to the left side or the right side.

People on the left side stop, and people on the right side move on the steps. Ten years ago, people using an escalator didn't split neatly. Now I had to choose which side to stand on, before I get on an escalator. I couldn't choose quickly. I wasn't sure that I could go up continually on the right side, so I joined the long left line. I felt slightly ridiculous.

Now I know the length of the escalators, I always go up stairs on the right side. When I got used to the rule, on the one hand, I feel it is rational, on the other hand, I feel it's strange. Above all, it's great that the rule was made naturally and all people follow the rule.
